Mario Martone\u2019s Cannes competition title Nostalgia<\/em>It has been chosen to represent Italy at the Oscars in the Best International Feature Film Category.<\/p>\n

Based on Ermanno Rea’s book and written by Martone and Ippolita di Maio, Felice Favino plays Felice. She returns to Naples, where she discovers new codes and places, and faces a past which eats at him.<\/p>\n

Francesco Di Leva and Tommaso Ragno are also included in the cast. Picomedia, Mad Entertainment with Medusa Film. It\u2019s a co-production with Rosebud Entertainment Pictures. In May, the film was released by Medusa in Italy.<\/p>\n

The film also marked Martone\u2019s return to the Cannes competition section 27 years after his adaptation of Elena Ferrante\u2019s Truly a love story<\/em>In 1995, he appeared on the Croisette. A native of Naples, he also screened The Scent of Blood<\/em> in Directors\u2019 Fortnight in 2004.<\/p>\n

Deadline stated in a film review:\u00a0\u201cThe Italian director splashes his teaming, boisterous, unruly native city of Naples across the screen in fulsome fashion in telling the story of a man who left as a teenager but, some 40 years later, is drawn back into its sinister embrace.\u201d<\/p>\n
