Rumors of Netflix\u2019s demise may have been greatly exaggerated. That\u2019s clear when looking at the top 10 most-streamed movies of the past weekend, at least according to Whip Media<\/a>\u2019s U.S. movie ranker, which reflects data from the past weekend from TV Time, a TV and movie app that tracks viewer interest across 22 million global registered users.<\/p>\n

The main takeaway is that six of the top ten most-viewed movies in America were found on Netflix. And the top performer of the week \u2014 bumping Disney+\u2019s \u201cThor: Love and Thunder\u201dFrom the No. 1 spot \u2014 was Netflix\u2019s \u201cDo Revenge,\u201dThis is the latest teen comedy featuring Austin Abrams, Maya Hawke, and Camila Mendes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If you\u2019re a fan of Alfred Hitchcock, you might want to check \u201cDo Revenge\u201dIt was also inspired by his 1951 classic \u201cStrangers on a Train.\u201d In this revenge story \u2014 albeit, one with lower stakes than Hitchcock\u2019s \u2014 high schooler Drea seeks payback on her boyfriend for sharing her sex tape. Meanwhile, new exchange student Eleanor is terrorized by a rumor at school \u2014 so the two teens join up to get their revenge.<\/p>\n

Bis now, \u201cDo Revenge\u201d hasn\u2019t just been a hit with viewers, either \u2014 two-thirds of critics on Metacritic<\/a>Positive reviews.<\/p>\n

\u201cThor: Love and Thunder\u201dAnd \u201cPinocchio,\u201dDuring their second week on Disney+, however, both movies kept their momentum going. Both movies only dropped one spot each on Whip Media\u2019s ranker, with \u201cThor: Love and Thunder\u201d grabbing the silver medal and Robert Zemeckis\u2019 \u201cPinocchio\u201dThird place for the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cElvis\u201dAlso, HBO Max continues to do well. The fourth most-viewed movie was The King’s biopic, which starred Austin Butler as the lead role, and Tom Hanks playing Colonel Tom Parker the calculating manager. Those two weeks come after \u201cElvis\u201ddebuted at No. 1 spot on Whip Media\u2019s ranker during the first week of September, when it first became available.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where Netflix\u2019s big weekend really kicked in: Five of the remaining six flicks on Whip Media\u2019s ranker were on Netflix, including \u201cMorbius,\u201dThis week, it fell to the fifth overall slot by two spots.<\/p>\n

Netflix Originals are responsible for three of the last remaining Netflix movies \u201cMe Time,\u201dKevin Hart-Mark Wahlberg buddy humor; \u201cEnd of the Road,\u201dA horror-thriller featuring Queen Latifah and Ludacris about a disastrous cross-country journey. \u201cLove in the Villa,\u201d a recently released rom-com from\u00a0 director\/writer Mark Steven Johnson.<\/p>\n

Four of the top 10 Netflix movies were original productions. And that isn\u2019t a huge surprise, considering Netflix has moved away from licensing movies from other studios in recent years as many companies have opted to keep more of their content for their own streaming services. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\u2018House<\/p><\/div>\n

Additional Information \u201cMorbius,\u201d the other non-Netflix Original that made the ranker was Tom Holland\u2019s \u201cUncharted,\u201dThis was released earlier in the year. It\u2019s been a steady performer for Netflix since hitting the service last month, appearing in Whip Media\u2019s Top 10 in five of the last six weeks.<\/p>\n

And for the second week in a row, Peacock\u2019s lone entrant into the Top 10 was \u201cJurassic World: Dominion.\u201dPeacocks should see a significant boost over the weekend. \u201cMinions: The Rise of Gru\u201dThe service will be available on Friday. It\u2019ll be worth checking back next week to see if it can push \u201cDo Revenge\u201dIt is the highest spot.<\/p>\n
