She claims that almost immediately, a flight attendant asked her to speak with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey just asked my wife and I to get off the plane and go to the jet bridge. And they were just like, \u2018We want to know about that rash,\u2019\u201d Nguyen said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the rash wasn\u2019t monkeypox. Nguyen has suffered from eczema, which causes dry and inflamed skin, for her whole life and was experiencing a flareup\u00a0on the day of her flight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just started crying, cause it was just so humiliating. I just felt ashamed, like it\u2019s my skin. I wear it,\u201d Nguyen said.<\/p>\n<p>After the embarrassment of being marched off the plane, Nguyen says Spirit Airline officials asked her to provide proof of her eczema with medical documents from her doctor, which she didn\u2019t have with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t carry around paperwork that\u2019s like, \u2018I have chronically dry skin,\u2019\u201d Nguyen said.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Henry, a dermatologist, says that people with all kinds of skin problems are being unfairly targeted in the wake of the monkeypox epidemic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many judgments around our skin. So a lot of my patients are very concerned. They\u2019re taking the subway. They\u2019re concerned that someone\u2019s going to take a photo of them. They\u2019re concerned they\u2019re going to be barred from a restaurant,\u201dHenry said.<\/p>\n<p>After Nguyen had produced her prescription for eczema cream, she was allowed to board the plane again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re in a position of power, if you have the ability to take someone off of an airplane and stop them from seeing their families, you of all people should be educated,\u201d Nguyen said.<\/p>\n<p>Spirit Airlines didn&#8217;t respond to a request of comment.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman experiencing an eczema flareup\u00a0says airline personnel temporarily\u00a0pulled from\u00a0a plane because they wrongly suspected she had monkeypox.
