Nadine Dorries, Tory MP and minister of culture, was heavily criticised for sharing a meme showing Rishi Sunak trying to assassinate Boris Johnson.

This photoshop image seems to be a recreation from the assassination in 44 BC of Julius Caesar, the Roman emperor. Dorries, who, at the time the article was written, has not removed this retweet from his Twitter account pro-Boris Johnson, which now supports Liz Truss for leader.

Dorries supported the beleaguered prime minster right up to his resignation earlier this month. It is well documented. She has now switched her support to Sunak’s opponent in the leadership race Liz Truss.

She criticized Sunak’s wearing Prada shoes on a Teeside visit this week and praised Truss’s wearing Claire’s Accessories earrings.

In response, Truss said: “I don’t have any issue with how expensive anybody else’s clothes are. I don’t know how she knows where I got my earrings to be perfectly frank about it.”

The latest chapter of the dispute between Dorries, Sunak, has led to condemnation of the culture secretary for appearing and encouraging violence, particularly after the deaths of Jo Cox and David Amess, both politicians who were both stabbed in the back by members of public.

u201c@ThanksBoJo #NadineDorries #MrHarryCole @RishiSunak Given the current climate of knife crime, and the fact that two of your colleagues were murdered by knives in recent years, this is an unacceptable re tweet. It is highly offensive to all and shows complete disrespect for victims of knife crime.

@ThanksBoJo @NadineDorries@MrHarryCole @RishiSunak Please send @NadineDorries an apology for the terrible re-tweet. This should be taken down immediately. There will be disagreements from all political parties. It’s okay that people disagree. That is how decisions are made. However, MPs have been killed in this manner. It’s an abominable image.
