Sylvester Stallone has spoken out against Irwin Winkler. He implied that the producer behind the allegations was Sylvester Stallone. \u201cRocky\u201dFilms and their sequel series \u201cCreed\u201dThe actor is being withheld a substantial financial stake in the franchise.<\/p>\n

Stallone, now 76, shared a picture of Winkler as an ill-tempered serpent through his blog. Instagram<\/a>Sunday morning. The caption urged that the image be used in conjunction with a \u201cfair gesture\u201dFrom the 93-year old producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cA very flattering portrait of the great \u2018Rocky\u2019\/\u2019Creed\u2019 producer, Irwin Winkler, from one of the country\u2019s greatest,\u201d Stallone wrote. \u201cAfter Irwin controlling \u2018Rocky\u2019 for over 47 years, and now \u2018Creed\u2019, I really would like to have at least a little [of] WHAT\u2019S LEFT of my rights back, before passing it on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN \u2014 I believe that would be a fair gesture from this 93-year-old gentleman?\u201d<\/p>\n

Stallone has expressed frustrations over his loss of ownership in recent years about popular film franchises like “The Last Jedi.” \u201cRocky,\u201dThat he was involved in creating. Stallone was awarded first-dollar gross for the early years. \u201cRocky\u201d sequels and earned net points off of the 1976 original \u2014 which cost just over $1 million to produce and grossed $225 million globally \u2014 the actor maintains that he\u2019s been deprived of an equity stake in the franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a painful subject that eats at my soul, because I wanted to leave something of Rocky for my children, but it\u2019s always great hearing from the loyal fans\u2026 Keep punching,\u201d Stallone\u2019s Instagram post concludes.<\/p>\n

2019\u00a0Variety\u00a0<\/em>Winkler reported that he was shocked to discover that Stallone was unhappy with his stake in the franchise. He pointed to the tens to millions of dollars he received as upfront fees and profit participation. According to one source Stallone earned more that $10 million from both. \u201cCreed\u201dIts 2018 sequel, which Stallone produced and starred in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have zero ownership of \u2018Rocky,\u2019\u201dStallone said Variety <\/em>In 2019, he wanted to share that an annuity of some sort could be left to his kids after his death. \u201cIt was shocking that it never came to be, but I was told, \u2018Hey, you got paid, so what are you complaining about?\u2019 I was furious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stallone conceived, wrote, and starred in the original 1976 film. He went on to win Oscar nominations for best screenplay and best actor. \u201cRocky\u201dThe 49th Academy Awards presented statuettes for best picture, film director and film editing.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
