{"id":116565,"date":"2022-07-18T03:02:44","date_gmt":"2022-07-17T21:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centralrecorder.com\/fox-sports-apologizes-for-slapping-yankees-red-sox-graphic-over-9-11-memorial\/"},"modified":"2022-07-18T03:03:01","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T21:33:01","slug":"fox-sports-apologizes-for-slapping-yankees-red-sox-graphic-during-9-11-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centralrecorder.com\/fox-sports-apologizes-for-slapping-yankees-red-sox-graphic-during-9-11-memorial\/","title":{"rendered":"Fox Sports Apologizes For Slapping Yankees\/Red Sox Graphic During 9\/11 Memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p>Fox Sports has apologized for a graphic aired during Saturday night\u2019s \u201cBaseball Night in America\u201dbroadcast in which the logos for the New York Yankees (and Boston Red Sox) were placed over the World Trade Center&#8217;s memorial fountains on September 11. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring last night\u2019s telecast, we used poor judgment on the use of a graphic,\u201dA Fox Sports spokesperson said in a statement. \u201cWe sincerely apologize and regret the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 9\/11 memorial includes the names of all those who were killed in the terrorist attack of 2001 and the 1993 bombings of the buildings that used to be the tallest in New York City. The names are surrounded by two large fountain pools, which were placed near the original towers. <\/p>\n<p>Fox ran a commercial after the broadcast of the eighth inning of the Yankees vs. Red Sox broadcast. It featured a graphic \u201cBaseball Night in America\u201d logo superimposed over an aerial view of the memorial, with the teams\u2019 logo placed over the fountains. The graphic was shared across social media, and was condemned by Keith Olbermann (ex-anchor of ESPN and MSNBC), as insensitive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have to be firings over this. Lots of them,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeithOlbermann\/status\/1548483609383776258\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He tweeted. <\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<notag><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There are some ideas that are just bad and others that are truly terrible.
