Donald Trump\u2019s niece knew long ago why his daughter Ivanka would eventually betray the former president by turning against him and The Big Lie.<\/p>\n

Mary Trump also knew the how \u2014 to officials investigating one or more of his many misdeeds.<\/p>\n

What Mary Trump didn\u2019t predict when she said Donald Trump\u2019s children would \u201cflip\u201d so officials could \u201cgo after a bigger target\u201d was the when and the where \u2014 for a Jan. 6 congressional panel that presented Ivanka\u2019s testimony Thursday night to 20 million primetime TV viewers. <\/p>\n

\u201cDonald would never imagine in a million years that his children would do that,\u201d Mary Trump said in June 2021, during an interview with CNN. \u201cAlthough I\u2019m fairly sure they would. So if that indeed happens, it\u2019s going to be fascinating. Because he would\u00a0never\u00a0do anything to protect them if it were at his expense.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, the troubled waters for Trump included a criminal investigation of the Trump Organization by the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office, which has seemingly since been all but wrapped up after indictments were brought against the company and former CFO Allen Weisselberg. Though new DA Alvin Bragg insisted in April<\/a> that \u201cthe investigation continues,\u201d Weisselberg\u2019s trial is expected to take place<\/a> in the fall. <\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s sons, Donald Trump Jr.<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Eric Trump<\/a>, both\u00a0worked for the company and presumably still do. Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner were of course senior advisers to the former president throughout his administration. Kushner testimony was also presented in Thursday\u2019s congressional hearing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"Fox<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s good for him has always been his only calculus,\u201d Mary Trump said of Donald Trump in the CNN interview. \u201cReally, that\u2019s the only calculation he makes ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other comments, Mary Trump said that faced with the opportunity to help shield his children from potential trouble with the law, her uncle would sit idly by and do nothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWould he take one for his kids?\u201d CNN show host Chris Cuomo asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, he wouldn\u2019t,\u201d replied Mary Trump, the author of the tell-all Donald Trump biography published in 2020 that delivered a scathing portrait of the then-president. \u201cI think if that were to happen, if prosecutors were to go after his children, he would fully expect\u00a0them\u00a0to take a hit for him, to benefit him. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"Fox<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cWhat he probably doesn\u2019t understand is that\u2019s not really how it works,\u201d continued Trump, who has also sued her uncle and his siblings for denying her a stake in the family real-estate business. \u201cYou know, they always try to get people to flip so they can go after the bigger target.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary Trump stressed that she had known Donald Trump her \u201cwhole life.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd unfortunately, I\u2019ve had to analyze him pretty closely over the last four or five years,\u201d she said in the 2021 interview. \u201cThis is somebody who\u2019s never changed. He doesn\u2019t evolve. And as you said earlier, he has one thing he cares about, and that\u2019s himself. That will never, ever change, no matter who gets in his way, no matter who gets hurt, even if it\u2019s his kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
