Will Smith returns to business sooner than anticipated with action thriller “Emancipation,”Apple Original Films has scheduled the film for a Dec. 2, theatrical release, and a Dec. 9, release on Apple TV+.
Thought “Emancipation”Apple delayed the film’s original release date of 2022. The delay was reversed and this film could be a contender for an Oscar.
The teaser features Smith as Peter, a slave who escapes a Lousiana plantation after he is whipped almost to death. Peter is a slave who escapes from Lousiana plantations after being whipped nearly to death. The film follows him on his quest for freedom. The film stars Mustafa Shakir playing Andre Cailloux, Ben Foster playing Fassel, Steven Ogg acting as Sergeant Howard and Charmaine Bingwa portraying Dodienne. Imani Pullam plays Betsy, Gilbert Owuor is Gordon, Aaron Clifton Moten playing Knowls.
“Emancipation”Antoine Fuqua directed the film and William N. Collage wrote the script. Producers include Jon Mone and Will Smith through Westbrook Studios, Joey McFarland through McFarland Entertainment, and Todd Black through Escape Artists. According to Apple, the film had its first private screening on Saturday, and the NAACP hosted a screening of the film at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 51st annual Legislative Conference in DC.
