Who is The Voice Of The Geico Gecko?

The GEICO Gecko is likely to be on the list of most well-known company mascots if you ask anyone. The cartoon lizard has been featured on billboards and in commercials for years, but who’s the voice behind the gecko?

The Gecko’s First Appearance

Since 1999, the GEICO Gecko is part of the insurance company. This was after a strike by the Screen Actors Guild prevented the use live actors. The original commercial was featured FrasierKelsey Grammer stars as the famous lizard. “This is my final plea: I am a gecko, not to be confused with GEICO, which could save you hundreds on car insurance. So, stop calling me.”

GEICO’s gecko is the company’s longest-running mascot, appearing in more than 150 commercials as of 2017. After Grammer, the voice-acting was taken over by Dave Kelly, a British radio presenter and DJ, but who’s voicing the gecko today?

The British Actor who Voices the Mascot

British actor Jake Wood now voices the GEICO Gecko. He gives the lizard its famous Cockney accent. Wood is also well-known within the UK. Wood starred on the BBC soap opera EastEndersMax Branning has been Max Branning for fifteen years. He left the show on February 20, 2021.

Wood also participated in the British version. Dancing With The Stars So called Strictly Come Dancing2014 He was partnered by Janette Manrara, dancer, to make it to the semi-finals.

Other Famous GEICO Mascots

The GEICO Gecko is definitely the insurance company’s star mascot, but he’s not the only one they’ve used over the years. Maxwell, the Pig, is another recurring character from the GCU. His first appearance was in a commercial which featured on the “This Little Piggy” nursery rhyme. His debut commercial showed him being driven home, crying “wee wee wee all the way home.”

Maxwell was initially intended to be a short-term character. But, his popularity with viewers led to him being featured in his own series. They feature Maxwell as a well-informed, tech-savvy pig, especially when it is about GEICO-related products.

The insurance company doesn’t only use animated animals in their commercials. One series of GEICO commercials featured a group cavemen. The tagline was featured in all commercials and print ads. “GEICO: So easy, a caveman could do it,” usually followed by the cavemen’s frustration at the “stereotype”The stupidity of cavemen

GEICO, one of America’s most well-known insurance companies, has been serving customers since 1936. However, even with all that insuring history, it’s clear that when people think of GEICO, they think of that friendly gecko.
