In 2022 Halloween was extended slightly because Wednesday will bring all the October feelings that they can ask for. After all, four episodes were helmed by the cinema’s gothic prince himself, Tim Burton, best known for movies such as Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice.
He also serves as executive producer, but the series was created together by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. They reimagined characters that were originally drawn by American cartoonist Charles Addams.
As the title suggests, this brand new Netflix series – all episodes premiered on Wednesday, November 23rd 2022 – focuses on the Addams daughter and teen, this time embarking on her first year at Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts that her parents attended.
She’s eager to escape her parents’ looming shadow and become her own person, but there’s a mystery to solve.
The cast is also open to questions from the public. Who plays Goody Adams on Wednesday?
Jenna Ortega is the actual Goody Addams. She also plays the main character Wednesday. So the American actress of 20 years does double duty and helps to make the series even more memorable.
As for the character, Goody is a deceased ancestor of the protagonist and they have their psychic abilities in common, as they’ve been passed down from generation to generation. It’s revealed that Goody used her strength and cunning to help save outcasts who were targeted by Joseph Crackstone (played by William Houston) back in her day.
Goody becomes an omnipresent presence through the visions and speaks with Wednesdays.
Jenna fans will be delighted to see that Jenna is on more screens than expected. The actress has already shown her talent in movies such as Scream (Tara), X(Lorraine), The Fallout, (Vada), Studio 666 (Skye), while TV roles include You and Jane The Virgin.
Jenna can be seen in her dual role. Viewers also have the opportunity to see a variety of talent perform their roles.
Jenna revealed her reaction to Christina Ricci’s appearance on the set of The Last Wednesday during an interview. ScreenRant:
“I remember when they told me, I think my heart fell just out of pure panic. But fortunately, she’s a really cool lady, and we got along really well. We never talked about the character. I just got to know her, and it was really nice and really wonderful. But it is a bit weird.”
“She added: “I felt the script was written very reminiscent of her Wednesday, and audiences already know and love Wednesday, [so] I don’t think I could have strayed too far with the character.”
Wednesday’s streaming will be exclusive to Netflix
