This mother-of-two rented her Bristol house for six years in the hope of eventually buying it.

She has since stated that she would never have done it. “invested money”She would have been horrified if the tree could cause such problems.

Katarzyna has been affected by recent stormy weather “scared to be home”And she claims that her mental state is declining.

“If it’s windy my children say ‘mummy, do you think the tree is going to fall down today?’,”She told BristolLive.

“Maybe they recognise my anxiety, I’m not sure. I tell them ‘no, no it’s not’ but I can tell they’re worried.”

“Worried someone will end up dead”The mum claimed that the tree was twice the height of her house and offered to pay for its cutting.

Katarzyna’s concerns stem from another large tree that fell on her street back in August 2020.

Katarzyna, a Battling Bristol City Council member, was informed that the tree was under protection.

Katarzyna, however, claims that the preservation order was placed on the tree after she filed a planning application to have the tree cut down.

“I applied for removal and the council said ‘okay’ and then one of the neighbours objected,”She continued.

A Bristol City Council spokesperson said: “Trees throughout our city’s neighbourhoods, such as this particular beech tree, provide significant environmental and aesthetic benefits to their local area.

“Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order to prevent their loss and disfigurement.

“We responded to concerns raised by the tenant about the tree and related damage to their home and completed a structural assessment of the property.

“Repairs were carried out to brick work, however no further issues have been identified with the structure of the property and the condition of the tree after further detailed inspections were completed above and beyond our responsibilities as the landlord.”

Additionally, the council stated that the tree was located on council-tenanted land and that the tenant is responsible for its maintenance.

After the inspection, the council found no reason to take immediate action.

Katarzyna sought help from her MP and was informed that the order meant the tree “cannot currently be removed”.

Claim to have spent “thousands”Katarzyna stated that she has lived in her home for many years. “If I had known that this house and this tree were going to make so much trouble, I would never have invested money.”
