Viola Davis is one step closer to EGOT status with 2023 Grammy Nod

Viola DavisShe is now one step closer to joining an exclusive award-winning circle. 

The Suicide Squad star just secured her first Grammy award nomination in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category for her 2022 memoir Finding Me

. If she wins, Viola will join the small group of EGOT—Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony—winners as its 18th member. 

Throughout her three-decade long career, the actress has picked up several awards—including two Tony Awards for her work on Broadway, one Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for How to Get Away With Murder

and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, which she earned for the 2016 movie Fences. Fun Fact: In 2010, she won her second Tony for the stage production of Fences.)

Many of her awards represented significant milestones. Viola won the Emmy for Lead Actress In Drama 2015 for her role in ABC drama Annalise Kating. Viola is also the first Black actor to win the Triple Crown of Acting, winning an Emmy, Tony and competitive Oscar. This feat she achieved in 2016.
