A sorority has been suspended by Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina over a presentation by one of its members on what features she finds “ugly” and only using photos of Black students.
The white female student who created the presentation was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and as well as using images of Black students on the football team, she also made derogatory comments regarding their appearance.
An image has been circulating of the student in question presenting her slideshow which includes four Black students who are football players on the screen with the words “Large nostrils” accompanying the images.
Other features she also allegedly listed as being “ugly” include dreadlocks and big lips according to WRAL.
As a result, people have been taking to social media to slam the student for her “blatant racism.”

A student and former football player commented on the presentation and shared his surprise at the fact no one stopped it from happening.
“I don’t see why something along the lines of this is funny. I don’t see how it’s funny,” Ja-Quez Harrell told WRAL.
He added: “With everybody that was there, how come nobody stopped it?”
A member of a fraternity shared a screenshot with WRAL of an alleged apology the woman apparently sent to a member of the football team for her presentation.
It read: “I am truly sorry and did not mean for this to hurt anybody and it was not targeted at African Americans in any way I can promise that. Again I am very sorry and will be accepting responsibility for my actions.”
In a statement on Tuesday (21 September) Methodist University said they launched an investigation into the incident last week and began the hearing process for the students involved. Alpha Delta Pi has also been “suspended indefinitely” and were told to “cease and desist from all activities” on campus.
“Methodist University is committed to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. We abhor racism in any form on our campus, and we immediately investigate all possible incidents of racism and act on them appropriately, as warranted by the facts,” This statement was read.
The Methodist Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi’s social media accounts were shut down.
