Ukrainian Officials ask the U.S. to not share photos of Zoom with Zelenskyy. Instead, two Senators do it anyway

Officials in the United States say that they are looking into the possibility of a deal whereby Poland could send Soviet-era planes to Ukraine in exchange for American F-16 jet fighters.

According to The Wall Street Journal, this would be one of the latest efforts to help Ukraine against Russia’s invasion. Officials from the United States stated Saturday that this deal would require congressional approval and White House approval.

This is just after Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, desperately asked U.S. officials to help him obtain more weapons, military assistance, and Russian-made fighter jets. Ukraine is still outgunned by Russia. Zelenskyy also demanded a ban on U.S. oil imports from Russia.

It took place during a call with Zelenskyy, along with more than 200 members of the House and Senate on Saturday morning. NBC News reports that two Republican senators are now facing uproar over sharing pictures of that video call over social media – when Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian officials specifically told them not to do so while the meeting was in progress.

During the Zoom Call, Senators Marco Rubio (Florida) and Steve Daines (Montana) tweeted photos of the meeting. They revealed that they were on call with Zelenskyy.

Both senators gave separate statements in defense of their decision to share photos and said they didn’t share any identifying data.
