Perry proved this by taking on different roles while he worked on and pushing out an infinite number of television shows. After announcing a new movie starring his gun-toting, foul-mouthed grandmother, Perry changed his mind. Why did he bring her back, after declaring that he had grown tired of the beloved character. At the time of the preceding Madeafilm, the media impresario had decided to let go of his beloved character. He was more than the grey hair and printed dresses. But the outrageous matriarch was still living rent-free in Tyler Perry’s mind, so maybe her cinematic return wasn’t too surprising. Perry had to do something. But Madea’s no-nonsense attitude and penchant for violence have endeared her to millions of fans. The 2005 film was a risky venture, but audiences were drawn to the eccentric grandmother. Perry gained the power to build the multimedia empire that she now manages. Not only was she a big box-office draw, but also she helped him gain the confidence to make the film.

The latest installment will center around Madea’s great-grandson’s college graduation. Like all Madea films, it will include laughter, family drama, and secrets. Perry said that part of the drama would feature a LGBTQ+ storyline.
