Tips to Save Money on Thanksgiving Dinner, As Turkey Prices Rise This Year

Are you looking for Thanksgiving dinner ideas? It’s possible to experience sticker shock as turkeys now cost 23% more than they did last year. Due to increased prices and tightening finances, many Americans will opt for cheaper alternatives this year.

“If it’s just two or three people, (getting a) rotisserie chicken will save you a ton of money,”Lauren Van Lieu, a thrifty chef, tells Inside Edition.

White meat turkey breasts are the most expensive. So, consider purchasing turkey parts.

“The thighs separate. The wings. The legs and you can make your own little dinner out of that,”She said.

Van Lieu recommends that you buy frozen vegetables in bulk, as well as frozen pies, to cut costs.

Lauren Cobello of Syracuse, New York is a frugal living expert and recommends a good ham for Thanksgiving. Lauren notes that a ham costing $15 is about the same weight as one that costs between $40- $50.

With rising prices, many people choose to eat out on Thanksgiving.

The 400 seats at Fogo de Chão in New York City fill up multiple times a day on Thanksgiving, manager Katie Calvin tells Inside Edition.

“I think (people like) the opportunity to come out to a restaurant and not worry about the stress of cleaning ad cooking at home,”She said.
