PARENTS are being warned about a disturbing TikTok trend that is causing children to scream in terror.
Online, a cruel trend has emerged that allows a terrifying ghost filter to appear over children’s shoulders while parents keep them captive.

This creepy trend has led to a wave of complaints against TikTok and calls to remove the filter.
However, some parents are enjoying the terror. Often adults will leave the room when the ghost hauntingly appears behind them.
The videos become viral online and the children run screaming for help.
TikTok’s attempts to attract attention have been met with a flurry of comments condemning the cruel craze.
One user commented: “Not funny!”
Another comment: “This is a ridiculous trend!”
Another person slammed on the poster, saying: “This is so wrong, bad parenting 101. You scared ur child for what? Views?”
Jason Barr, Northern Irish Councillor is one campaigner trying to end the terror of the filter.
He wrote to TikTok requesting that the filter be removed from the app.
The councillor explainedBelfast Live: “Some children have been left petrified by this filter and that’s why I’ve got in touch with the platform about getting it removed.
“Some people see this as funny but I can assure you it’s not funny when you have a child running out of a room screaming after seeing something like this.
“This morning I have written to TikTok in relation to the filter which contains a Ghost type figure which is being used to scare children.
“I find it really alarming that people would scare children in this way and leave them screaming in a locked room.
“This can have long-lasting effects on them.
“Please do not use this filter to scare your own children. It’s simply not normal and definitely is not funny in any way.”
The popular app now allows users to search for the hashtag #Ghostfilter and find hundreds of videos of children being spooked by this trend.
In a statement, the social media company stated that it was committed to protecting and promoting the safety and well-being in its community.
