High cholesterol is caused by too much of a particular fatty substance in the blood.

According to the NHS it can be due to obesity, smoking, or insufficient exercise.

A blood test that measures your lipid levels can help you determine if you have high or low blood pressure.

Dr Don Grant, clinical lead at The Independent Pharmacy, said previous studies have shown links to sleeping issues and high cholesterol.
