After George Eustice, environment minister, demanded that the entire country be banned from using hose pipes, it was done.

Weather experts advised people to avoid the noon sun and stay in shade because the warm temperatures will last for at least ten more days.

“Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cloudier, with a risk for some patchy rain largely over the west of Scotland. However there will be sunny spells throughout Northern Ireland.

It was added by Mr Dewhurst “fairly unusual”August tends not to see prolonged dry weather, making it a more wet month.

Eustice also said that water companies had the right to ban hosepipes and encouraged others to do so.

He wrote in Sunday Telegraph: “Water companies across the country have acted in line with their drought plans to minimize the impact of prolonged dry weather by using all available tools.

“I strongly urge others to do the same”.
