Students Mock Lady of 64 Enrolled at University, Learn She Was Fulfilling Dream after Raising 12 Kids – Story of the Day

Linda had always wanted to finish her education. But life kept getting in the path. It was the unexpected challenges that almost forced her to give up, when she finally decided to take the chance. Will the mocking of her classmates never stop?

Linda, 64, had a dream. She wanted to become a teacher to underprivileged children just like her mother.

Linda has been surrounded by her mother since she was young. She dressed up in a professional manner to go to school. Linda had witnessed the woman be enthusiastic, teach, and spend many nights planning lessons for her students.

“Linda! To be a good teacher, you have to be a good student,”She would tell her daughter.

Linda’s life changed dramatically after the death of her parents. To survive, she quit her studies.

Although she initially believed she would study after she got married to Clark, she eventually decided she would return to the subject after having her first child. Then came another child.

Linda’s first grandchild was born just as her nest was empty. And then another, and another…

Linda, a widow, had raised 7 children and 5 grandchildren by the age of 64. She gave her all and stood beside them through every stage.

“We have something in mind, Linda. Please, hear us out!”

Linda’s 64th birthday brought her to a deep realization: She had no obstacles in her path.

She was able to spend more time with her children, even though she still regularly watched Tina, Johnny, and the youngest of her grandchildren.

It was then that her children gifted her a perfect timing gift.

“You’ve done so much for us, ma! It’s your turn to fulfill your lifelong dream now!”Linda was able to say this as her grandkids and kids handed her an admission letter to a reputable university near her home.

To complete her graduation, they had her enroll in a full-time program!

She was just as excited as a small child to get to college. The first bench was her seat, and she sat up straight to soak in the information.

But her excitement was short-lived as she came face-to-face with her biggest adversary — the computer.

“Oh, what am I going to do with these sausage fingers!”She sighed and tried to use the mouse, but it was too difficult.

Linda, the oldest student of the class, was struggling. The younger boys and girls had a lot of fun laughing at her misery.

“Grandma over here wants to code when she should be baking cookies!”One of the backbenchers laughed and high-fiving friends over the comment.

“She needs a new hobby, y’all! Somebody gift her some yarn and knitting needles. Maybe a cat, too!”Another voice said it, and the entire class gasped with laughter.

Linda has been suffering this mockery for many months. It was breaking her spirit.

One of the girls who were using the bathroom to refer to her as “Susie” was when she first heard it. “Too-Late-Linda!”referring to how she asked the dumbest of questions in class, it was the final straw.

The girls were shocked when Linda came out of one of the stalls and made weeping noises.

“I’m trying, kids, I’m really trying…I thought after all these years I could finally…but who am I kidding! I can’t expect to keep up with you youngsters. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you, and I…well, I can just wait it out until it’s time for me to go!”

The girls were speechless, teary-eyed, and confused as Linda left.

It was then that things started to turn around.

Linda was curious about why the class stopped talking when Linda entered instead of hooting and laughing. All the children gathered round Linda and asked for her story.

They devised a plan after Linda’s children learned that she was able to make time for school despite her many chores and being a grandma,

“We have something in mind, Linda. Please, hear us out!”

Linda would be able to study faster and better because the children had a plan.

Two of the students were in charge of teaching her the computer, one would take up the job of cleaning her house and doing the laundry, another was in charge of watering the garden…

The best part was that the children had agreed to split the responsibility of watching Tina and Johnny whenever they visited. Linda would have more time to study and be able focus on her studies.

Linda was touched by this kind gesture. But the kids continued to do so for the entire year. Right up to the last exams.

After Linda released the final year results, students lined up in front of her house and waved confetti and cheerful signs, declaring that Linda had achieved her goal.

Although she was thrilled to be surrounded by her classmates and family, she did shed some tears of regret.

“I always wanted to be a teacher, but I don’t think I can take up a job anymore. I’m so old, and my body is exhausted…” Linda sighed.

“You may not realize this,”One of the students stated, ” but you did become a teacher. You taught us a lot of things in the last few months. Things that can’t be found in textbooks!”

“That’s right! You taught us how to pursue our dreams no matter what,”One of the girls was added.

“Yeah, and how to be a sincere student!”Another student cheered.

“And tend to a garden!”The voices continued to ring.

“And you taught Johnny and me how to draw and sing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!'”Tina, Linda’s youngest grandchild, hugged Linda and said, “Making her smile.”

“Mama, I hope I’ve made you proud,”Linda burst into tears of joy when she spoke to God.
