STACEY Solomon has shown us all that hitting refresh in your home needn’t cost the earth.
The DIY queen regularly shares the latest bargain hacks she’s used in her own Pickle Cottage to bring the dated property into the 21st century.
She’s taken on the sprawling house room by room and created a modern, homely retreat on a budget for her family-of-five (soon to be six!).
Here are five of Stacey’s best and cheapest hacks that will help inspire you in your own home.
A £1.50 rainbow makeover for tired old furniture
The mum-of-three-boys has created a pink-themed haven for her unborn daughter’s nursery.
This involved upcycling an old chest of drawers with some tester pots of paint and £1.50 handles from Amazon.
After removing the old handles, she cleaned and lightly sanded the unit.
The handles were then fitted and painted each drawer in a different shade.
Stacey then popped the unit inside the built-in nursery wardrobe, maximising storage for the new arrival’s clothes and nappies.
The £4.99 feature wall
You can give feature walls a modern twist by dividing walls into sections with a bit of Frogtape (£4.99 from Screwfix).
They work really well in children’s bedrooms and Stacey led the way when she redecorated Rex’s room.
The star taped off three triangular segments which she filled with two different shades of grey and £9.99 wall stickers from Amazon.
It is possible to keep costs low by using leftover paint tins or dividing up smaller areas and filling them with sample pots.
Bargain Dunelm and Primark buys
Despite her impressive net worth TV star Stacey can’t resist a bargain.
The home of Stacey is full of homely touches that she bought for just fiver from Primark and Dunelm.
A £5 duck egg Egyptian cotton towel from Dunelm gave her downstairs loo a touch of luxe for less and tied in perfectly with her white-and-blue theme.
She also accessorised with pampas grass from Primark adding interest to her floating corner shelves.
In another bathroom, she finished off a monochrome makeover with a cosy black-and-white Dunelm rug for just £4.
The 99p fix for clean lines and a spotless finish
Stacey swears by decorators’ caulk for giving spaces a fresh feel.
The acrylic filler is ideal for sealing gaps and cracks around skirting boards, ceilings and architraves that can make rooms feel tatty – even if they’ve just had a new lick of paint.
The star has used it all over her historic Pickle Cottage, including the conservatory and nursery.
You can pick up a tube for just 99p from Screwfix.
The statement mirror on a shoestring
Giant panel mirrors are having a moment, but they don’t come cheap.
Rather than shelling out over £100, Stacey created her own with black frames and panel mirrors from Ikea costing £1.25 and £1 respectively.
It can be made to any size or shape you like, but Stacey used nine to fill her large living room.
