Spoon releases music video for “Wild” from “Lucifer on The Sofa”

Spoon frontman Britt Daniel is testing out his acting chops in the old Hollywood Western-themed music video for the band’s latest single “Wild,”From their tenth album Lucifer on the SofaAvailable February 11.

Brook Linder and Ben Chappell direct the visual “Wild” aims to depict the song’s celebratory venture back to a vivid and colorful reality after spending some time in the black and white haze of sullen depths.

Linder shared: “There’s always something unexpected in the familiar with Spoon. They are mythic to me somehow, and ‘Wild’ needed to feel like a myth, or at least illustrate the myth-making process in some odd way. We used the old ways — crude in-camera techniques — to hit this uncanny Western film note. Britt is the quintessential Western hero.”

Lucifer on the SofaTexas was the location where it was recorded, so the theme is very appropriate. “Wild”Follow these steps “The Hardest Cut,”The lead single from the album was released last October. Daniel described the tracks as “a preview” of the album. “the sound of classic rock as written by a guy who never did get Eric Clapton.”

Spoon collaborated with Mark Rankin and Adele to produce the record, while Justin Raisen and Dave Fridmann also contributed.

The band will be sharing tour dates for their spring trek on Thursday. It has filled the gap left by the pandemic’s early months, when the band was unable to play shows regularly.

Speak to Rolling StoneIn September 2020, the record was incomplete. Daniel looked back at his early days touring and his ideas since then. “When we used to tour in vans, I would do that drive between Texas and the West Coast several times a year. Believe me, I got to where I did not appreciate it. But now, it just feels so good to be out in the big, wide world. Even stopping at a gas station feels like a little adventure. I love it.”
