Southern California’s Strong Winds Cause Loss of Power to Tens of Thousands On Thanksgiving

Santa Ana winds gusty and extremely low humidity caused fire danger to Southern California’s Thanksgiving Day.

As of 3 PM on Thursday, over 68,000 customers of Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric in high-wind areas had their power shut off, ABC News reported. Los Angeles County had 15,556 customers; Ventura County had 14,987 customers; San Diego Gas & Electric had 8,852 customers. Riverside County had 20,322 customers. Orange County had 4,127 customers.

The two companies estimated that Southern California’s power grid could be shut down for more than 250,000 customers due to gusts of up to 75 mph in certain mountain areas.
