Sony acquires Mark Wahlberg’s rights to ‘Father Stu”

Sony Pictures has acquired worldwide rights “Father Stu,”Mark Wahlberg produced and starred in the film.

Rosalind Ross directs this feature film, which is her feature directorial debut. The film tells the true story of Father Stuart Long (boxer-turned-priest), whose transformation from self-destruction into redemption inspired many.

“Father’s Stu’s journey from troublemaker to clergyman was inspiring to many, including me,”Wahlberg stated this in a statement. “Rosey has done an incredible job capturing the essence of who he was and how he affected the people he met. I hope that with this film, we keep his spirit alive and continue his good works.”

The film will be released in cinemas on Good Friday, April 15, 2022.

The film stars Mel Gibson, Jacki Weber, and Teresa Ruiz.

Wahlberg also included “Father Stu”Stephen Levinson as well as Jordon Folss produced this film. Miky Lee, Colleen Campbell, Patrick Peach, Tony Grazia are the executive producers.

Wahlberg can next be seen starring in Sony Pictures’ “Uncharted,”Based on the PlayStation videogame. “Uncharted,”Ruben Fleischer directs. The film opens in theaters on February 18. Wahlberg was initially attached to play Nathan Drake but he switched to Victor Sullivan’s mentor role when Tom Holland was offered the role. This will be the origin story for future installments.

Wahlberg has directed over a dozen feature films including “The Fighter,” “Patriots Day”And “Lone Survivor.”
