Songs and scores of Wakanda forever

One of the most integral parts of 2018’s Black Panther was the film’s music as it blended an array of modern songs with an Oscar-winning score that was rooted in African culture.

Now, the success of the MCU’s Phase 4 rests with its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, after a string of movies that many have found underwhelming.

As the music was such a crucial part of the first film’s success, there is a huge amount of attention being placed on the soundtrack of Black Panther 2 but which songs feature in Wakanda Forever?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever release and plot preview

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuted on cinema screens Friday, November 11, 20,22.

The film beings in the wake of King T’Challa’s untimely death with Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje all left feeling the effects of his absence.

However, Wakanda’s people cannot rest on their laurels. A threat to their country emerges when Namor (the king of Talokan’s underground realm) appears with a warning of a global threat and a disturbing plan of how they can stop it.

The people of Wakanda face dangerous challenges. They must rise to the occasion after the death of their king, and forge a new course if they want to survive.

Black Panther 2 soundtrack

Like the original Black Panther, Wakanda Forever is packed with music throughout and there are a plethora of songs that feature in the sequel’s soundtrack.

Who composed the score

As well as the licensed songs used in the soundtrack of Black Panther 2, Wakanda Forever’s musical identity is also bolstered by an original score by Ludwig Göransson.

The music was composed by a Swedish composer, who won an Oscar.

As well as scoring Black Panther, Göransson is also responsible for composing the music for the Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, as well as the theme for The Book Of Boba Fett.

Away from Star Wars, the 38-year-old composer has also crafted music for the films Creed Creed II, 2018’s Venom, Pixar’s Turning Red and the short film Inner Workings as well as the TV series Community.

To coincide with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, both Ludwig Göransson’s score and a soundtrack album for the film have been released on music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
