Sinead O’Connor reported that her 17-year old son, who had been missing for a few weeks, has been found dead.

“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,”Friday evening, the 55 year-old Irish singer tweeted.

“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace,”The tweet went on.

It is unclear how O’Connor died. Insider received a statement from O’Connor’s representatives confirming the death.

Shane O’Connor, a teen, was reported missing on Thursday. According to a police report, Shane O’Connor was last seen in Dublin Friday. The Guardian.

O’Connor claimed that Shane was under suicide watch at Tallaght Hospital, following two failed attempts one week earlier, and that the hospital had neglected him. Insider reached out to the hospital for comment but they did not respond immediately.

O’Connor sent messages to O’Connor asking him to get in touch with her during her son’s absence and to let her know that he was fine.

“Shane, your life is precious,”O’Connor tweeted this Thursday “God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.”

O’Connor’s tweets about Shane’s death prompting police to confirm his death, stating that the search for him had ended.
