Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars opened the 2021 American Music Awards by performing Silk Sonic single. “Smokin Out the Window.”
The pair, dressed in red velvet suits, exchanged vocals in front a large live band that included backing vocalists and a trumpet player. The spot, like the song, evokes the 1970s with its retro dance moves and glowing stage lights.
“Smokin Out the Window” is the third and most recent single from the group’s recently issued debut LP, A Evening with Silk Sonic. The singles can also be found on the album “Leave the Door Open”And “Skate,”Along with guest spots from Babyface and Bootsy Collins, Thundercat, among other artists.
Silk Sonic have been nominated to three awards at the 2021 AMAs. They are up against AJR, BTS and Glass Animals for Favorite Pop Duo/Group. “Leave the Door Open” is up for Favorite R&B Song and Favorite Music Video.
Olivia Rodrigo leads all AMA nominators with seven nominations. Weekend is second with six. Bad Bunny and Doja Cat are tied for fifth with five nominations each.
