Sherri Shepherd has shown fans a glimpse of her new talk show by serving as a cohost. The ViewAnd Guest host Wendy Williams Show. But the comedian/actress insists we haven’t seen all she has to offer, saying she’s Going to fill the void on daytime television. As we inch closer to that September premiere date, we’re learning more about the tone Sherri is going to take in comparison to Wendy Williams’ show. We know Shepherd’s going to bring her standup background, but one thing she’s not going to be is mean.

Wendy Williams was well-known for her candid opinions on pop culture. Sherri Shepherd, however, told Daily MailShe plans to keep the vibes positive as she welcomes big celebrities to her show. She stated:

Let’s be clear, I’m not a mean person at all! Positive energy is my main focus. I’m about joy. I’m about kindness and laughter. Anyone who knows me well will agree. And that’s what my talk show will embody. It shouldn’t be anything else. As a celebrity myself, I know what it’s like to not feel safe appearing on a show or hoping a host doesn’t try to have a gotcha-moment with you. Sherri will make it a celebrity-friendly area.

Sherri Shepherd is looking to attract the type of celebrity guests she hopes to attract by creating a safe space that celebrities can use. Her dream guest is former first lady Michelle Obama (Shepherd said she wouldn’t mind “the guy that she is married to” accompanying her either), but she’s already got a whole list in mind. She stated:

Oprah is my favorite TV show! Who wouldn’t? Meryl Streep would be my ideal partner! And you know I have a crush on Regé-Jean Page, he has to come. And Trevor Noah, he’s a priority too. I would love to sing a duet alongside Pat Benatar. And I must celebrate the living legend that is actress Marla Gibbs—that queen deserves her flowers.

Sherri Shepherd is aiming high, and why shouldn’t she? The comedian is a longtime veteran named Wendy Williams’ official replacement in FebruaryWith Debmar-Mercury announcing TWWS’s 13th season would be its last. Shepherd expressed gratitude to the show’s guest hosts for opening doors for her. But she said that they would not be back. Williams’s success can be replicated by no one..

The new host acknowledged that Wendy Williams has not spoken to her, even though she continues to show her love for her predecessors. They are not friends. She did co-host Wendy Williams Show’s series finale, which aired a video to honor its namesake host but did not feature Williams herself. There’s been much criticism that Williams didn’t get the respect she deserved, with Williams’ Kevin Hunter, ex-husband, speaks out to say that he called the sendoff a “travesty.”

It’s no wonder Sherri Shepherd wants to focus on positivity moving forward, and fans don’t have too much longer to wait. SherriThe premieres will be in syndication on Monday September 12.
