Twain added pop to the music of a South African producer. “As a producer, [Mutt] is very much a director,”Twain saidThe Guardian. “He was driving the direction of the sound. He didn’t drive the direction of my voice and never tried to change me … He drove the instrument choices.”

Twain discovered in 2008 that Lange had been having an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, her personal assistant and close friend. After 15 years, Twain discovered Lange had cheated with her. Twain admitted that he was in denial and asked Lange or Marie-Anne for explanations. “I called her up,”Twain explains onEllen DeGeneres Show,adding, “I wanted to give her the opportunity to tell me herself without me accusing her … And she said, ‘No … I don’t understand why you’d think I would ever hide anything from you.'”

Marie-Anne Lange and Lange deny having an affair. Twain sent an email to Marie-Anne in response to Marie Anne’s refusal to answer Twain’s calls and to change her phone number. “Please leave us in peace … If you could see me crying and suffering, maybe you would have pity. Find love somewhere else, from someone else that isn’t hurting two families so much.”

Due to her heartbreak, she suffered a severe physical injury that could have a serious impact on her singing career. “Suffering does not discriminate. Her career was at risk from multiple throat surgeries, and she was afraid of losing her voice. Twain suffered a loss of her voice from invasive surgery.
