SAG Awards Nominations Live Streamed: Watch Announcement

For the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, viewers will need Instagram Live to see them.

Rosario Dawson (“Dopesick”) and Vanessa Hudgens (“Tick, Tick … Boom!”) will announce nominees on @sagawards’Instagram Stories on Wednesday SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher will give an introduction at 6:50 a.m. PT, and SAG Awards committee members Jason George and Elizabeth McLaughlin will then reveal nominations for the outstanding action performances (stunt awards) by television and film ensembles — before Dawson and Hudgens take over around 7 a.m.

The ceremony’s Instagram plans come amid ongoing COVID-related concerns, as other awards shows and festivals have chosen to cancel or postpone in-person programming. The Grammy Awards were also delayed indefinitely with the possibility of a relocation from Crypto.com Arena.

When announcing that this year’s nominations would be on Instagram Live, the SAG Awards noted that they were “reimagining the nominations announcement as a seamless, virtual experience for both nominees and fans.”

VarietyClayton Davis, Film Awards Editor for Clayton Davis predicted that Kristen Stewart would be nominated as best performance by a woman actor in a leading movie role. Will Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch would also be nominated, while Denzel Washington, Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington would receive nominations for best actor performance in a lead film role. Davis also predicted that the casting of “CODA,” “Belfast,” “The Power of the Dog,” “West Side Story” “Don’t Look Up”Outstanding performance in a motion picture would earn the cast an award.

The nominations close on Wednesday, February 19, at 12 noon. Final voting begins on Wednesday, February 19. The 28th SAG Awards will live stream on TNT and TBS at 5 p.m.PT on Sunday, February 27, from The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
