Rupert Murdoch is ‘Exploring’ the Reunion of Fox Corp. and News Corp (Report).

Rupert Murdoch is considering a reunion of Fox Corp. and News Corp, the separate wings of his media empire that were split nearly a decade ago, according to a Friday Report

The Journal – itself part of the News Corp side of Murdoch’s holdings – says the discussions are at an “early stage,”Special exploratory board committees will be formed on both the sides. The merger would bring together the media empires under one roof after Murdoch split his holdings into News Corp (primarily publishing) and Fox Corp. (mainly TV).

Murdoch, 91 is currently the executive chair of both businesses. His son Lachlan is the co-chair at News Corp and executive chairman and CEO of Fox.

The Journal reports that Fox Corp.’s market cap is approximately $17 billion. News Corp, however, has a market capitalization of $9 billion.
