Private Equity Company Acquires UK Film and TV Set Designer 4Wood in the South Wales Production Boom
UK film and TV set designer 4Wood has been bought by London-based private equity firm Connection Capital in a deal worth $10.6m (£9m). Scott Fisher and Lynsey Fish founded the company, which is based in Cardiff in Wales. Clients include the BBC, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Lucasfilm, Disney, Lucasfilm, Lucasfilm, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Apple TV+ for shows such as “The Simpsons”. Connection Capital said its acquisition of the company was based on its assessment that the production market in the company’s home region of South Wales is expected to grow considerably in the coming years. ITV Commissions Psychological ThrillerPlatform 7A New Streaming Platform
ITV has ordered the series psychological thriller Platform 7 Dancing Ledge Productions is the comedy-focused, scripted TV production company behind shows Like The Responder Salisbury. The thriller is told in four parts. It centers on a woman who witnesses an ominous event at a railway station. She then finds that her own fragmented memories are being jogged to show a connection between her life and the tragedy. Paula Milne, multi-award winning screenwriter (Him, The Politician’s Husband, White Heat) has adapted the drama from the globally renowned bestselling novel of the same title by Louise Doughty. Platform 7 will air exclusively on ITV’s new streaming service ITVX premiere, ahead of linear transmission on ITV’s main channel. Polly Hill, ITV’s head of drama, stated that the drama was a departure for her department. “It’s edgy, fresh and engaging and is unlike anything we’ve commissioned before, as ITVX gives us the scope to break new ground with drama,’ she said.
