‘Piano girl’ Shauntae Heard apologies for ‘ignorant’ actions in viral Athens video

Shauntae Heard, who went viral after knocking over a street performer’s piano in Athens, Georgia, has shared an apology on Facebook.

The girl walked over and slammed her hand on the instrument for no reason at all, thumping it to the ground – but the musician accepts her apology.

‘Piano girl’ video goes viral

The viral video was originally shared by the pianist on his TikTok account @thatandrewshoe and sees him playing the keys on the street at night.

“This is probably one of the worst things somebody’s probably ever done to me while street performing,” he says in a voice over.

A girl then comes out of nowhere and hits the piano aggressively, but the musician continues playing despite the nuisance.

The same woman then walks back past from the other direction with a group of friends and slams her hand on the keyboard once more.

However, this time she knocks the whole instrument to the ground as a passerby screams “boo that woman”.

Shauntae Heard apologises

Shauntae Heard has apologised for her actions in a statement on her now deleted Facebook account and Instagram profile @atl.minit.

Screenshots of the apology are being shared around social media, in which she said: “Public service announcement. I’m sorry to everyone that has seen the viral video.”

“I have took accountability for my actions. I know it was wrong and ignorant of me but please keep my family out of it,” she continued.

Heard went on to confirm she didn’t steal any money or break the piano and added: “I’m a human just like you all.”

“Everybody has made mistakes, nobody is perfect. Again, I’m sorry for my actions,” she then reiterated again.

The girl added that she knows it’s “not right” but said she’s “seen worse in downtown” and asked people to stop being nasty.

Her full statement can be seen in the video below:

Musician accepts her apology

She further claimed that she has spoken to the musician and he has accepted her apology, saying they had a “whole good conversation on her phone”.

Shauntae shared a screenshot of a message conversation with Andrew on Messenger, in which he said: “Hey, I accept your apology.”

“I told people not to harass you, but I can’t control what happens so that was my way of trying not to have people come at you,” he continued.

“However, you have to know that actions have consequences, and while I feel bad that people are harassing you, you’ve got to own up.”

He added that he “wasn’t mad at all” when she hit the piano the first time, but the second time was “pretty messed up”.
