PBS Masterpiece and ViacomCBS UK’s Channel 5 have shown faith in All Creatures Great And SmallA rare double season order
Ben Vanstone, lead writer and exec had already confirmed a third season. But the commitment for a seventh episode is evidence of the success. This reboot of the 1980s UK smash has attracted huge ratings on both sides.
The U.S. audience viewed 10 million episodes of the James Herriot adaptation’s first season. Meanwhile, UK viewers regularly watch more than 5M episodes per episode. This drama has helped to establish Channel 5 as an artistic force. It also aired a Christmas special that was highly rated.
Season 3 filming will start in Yorkshire in spring. It will see the Skeldale House family reunited in Spring 1939, as another World War looms over the Dales. All Darrowby residents, including James and Helen are undergoing significant changes as the world around them moves towards great uncertainty.
Season three starting inWolf HallPlayground, the production company, will continue to host Nicholas Ralph and Anna Madeley. Vanstone is back as the lead writer. Brian Percival (Downton Abbey), remains executive producer and director alongside Colin Callender and Melissa Gallant. Richard Burrell is the producer. All3Media International will continue to distribute.
