NINTENDO could be about to debut a brand new controller for the Switch this week.
According to an FCC listing, this is a change that was first revealed earlier in the month.
The submission was accompanied by a confidentiality request which means that everything relating to it will be kept under wraps for up to six months.
We don’t know what the controller might look like, nor how it will function.
As VGC reports, the model name of the controller is HAC-043, which denotes that it’s for the Nintendo Switch.
It’s almost a given that the model names of both the console and peripherals start with HAC.
However there’s been a new development with additional filings popping up on the FCC website (via VGC).
According to these filings, the previously confidential information will be made public starting Friday, September 24, according to VGC.
This is in addition to rumors of a September Nintendo Direct. We may also see the peripheral revealed at an official event.
A wireless SNES controller is already available for the Nintendo Switch. The certification process also followed a similar path.
A diagram in the documentation showed how the controller was shaped in relation to FCC labels.
This time, a similar diagram was submitted. However, Nintendo is more careful.
Although the diagram only contains two rectangles, the dimensions suggest a possible N64 design.
This is speculation at the moment. It could be anything that a few rectangles mean.
It looks like Nintendo is about to announce something, either during a Direct or not.
