Every month, Netflix launches so many new shows and movies that it’s all but impossible to keep up with them all. While this may frustrate completionists it also means the streaming service is full hidden gems. Some of those gems sometimes rise to the surface. Squid GameIn 2021. And now another foreign-language show that didn’t have much buzz prior to launch is suddenly shooting up the charts. You can stream the Danish sci fi series to get in on the groundfloor. Chosen has a relatively familiar plot if you’re a fan of science fiction. A meteor crashed into Middelbo in Denmark, 17 years ago. Emma, now a museum worker at the crash site’s wreckage, discovers that things are not always as they seem.
The original series was created by the creative team behind the show. RainNetflix. It was also broadcast in Scandinavia for three seasons. Chosen’sThe first season has six episodes, each lasting less than an hour. So if you’re hungry for more Danish content with a similar vibe, you might want to check out Rain.

Emma has always felt different from anyone else in Middelbo – a small Danish town that became world famous when it was said that a meteor entered the atmosphere and crashed into it 17 years earlier. Middelbo has changed. The question now is whether the town has ever been what they claim to be. When Emma accidentally discovers that the whole story of the meteor is a lie, a dangerous and improbable truth about the sleepy town reveals itself – something that is far more perilous and incredible than she could have ever imagined. Is it a meteor that struck the small town 17 years ago, or something much more powerful? Emma comes to terms with this new realization and realizes that she is alone and that society and friends will not save her when she most needs them.
You should watch more sci-fi series on Netflix
If you’re looking for more under-the-radar sci-fi on Netflix, there’s plenty to choose from.
It was mentioned in another post but we did not mention it. DarkThis is one of the best shows Netflix has ever made. It’s also one of the most confusing, so be prepared before you dive into the German-language series. There are three seasons, so it’s perfect for a week-long binge. Just don’t give yourself a headache trying to figure it out.
I think one of my favorite, yet underrated sci-fi shows on Netflix has to be Travelers. It’s about agents who come back in time and take over the bodies of people who are about to die. And it’s all in order to stop the coming apocalypse.
