Netflix Commits Five U.K. Series including David Nicholls’ One Day

Netflix is making David Nicholls weeper again “One Day”A series featuring a screenplay written by Nicole Taylor (“The Nest”), working with Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel and Bijan Sheibani.

The story tells about Emma and Dexter who meet at college. Their on/off relationship is told through each year’s lens.

Anne Hathaway starred opposite Jim Sturgess in a 2011 movie adaptation of the novel. At the time, Hathaway’s British accent came under much scrutiny.

The Casting for the Netflix Version, which Drama Republic Production is currently working with Universal International Studios and Focus Features to produce, has not been announced.

The streamer will also have a brand new show. “Eric,”From “The Split”Abi Morgan is the scribe. The thriller is set in the 1980s and features a father who searches for his missing son. SISTER produced the film in association with Little Chick. Jane Featherstone exec produces for SISTER, Morgan for Little Chick.

Additional U.K. shows “Supacell,”Rapman wrote about a group South London-based superheroes in a series inspired by Greek mythology called “Kaos,”From Charlie Covell (writer), and “The F— It Bucket,”An anorexic teenage girl makes a bucket list from “The Crown” producers Left Bank.

Netflix is investing more in the U.K. than ever before. Netflix now boasts three studios across the country: Sergo Enfield (Sepperton), Longcross and Shepperton. The company also has a range training programmes.

Many of its most popular shows include “The Crown,” “Bridgerton” “Sex Education,”These products were made in the U.K.
