The group failed to locate Bueker and reported Bueker missing to the local police.
Bueker was last seen by his family and friends near Mud Lake. This is the Arkansas River’s outer section.
Police launched an investigation at midnight with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and county’s marine patrol unit. “an extensive ground and water search,”The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
To give themselves an advantage over the night-time lake water, the local law enforcement began to use sonar technology to locate the boats.

At 9.16am, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported they had found Bueker’s remains at Mud lake’s bottom.
Bueker was quickly confirmed by friends and family, prompting the investigation.
Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. said that he felt for the Bueker family as they examine the facts surrounding the case.
“I truly pray that the successful recovery of Judge Bueker’s body by our deputies and Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officers brings some sense of closure to the Bueker Family and those who knew him best,”During a press conference,
“The scour of emotions they must feel right now is devastating.”
According to the sheriff’s office, it was an accident drowning. However, Bueker’s body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner to undergo an autopsy.
