Cathy Schulman will produce the film via her Welle Entertainment label, alongside I’ll Have Another’s Gabrielle Union and Kian Gass, Hathaway via her Somewhere Pictures label, the author, Eric Hayes, Showalter, and Jordana Mollick. Jennifer Westfeldt will serve as executive producer. She wrote the script. Schulman optioned and attached Hathaway to the book. Amazon won the film through an auction.
Production will start in October.The Idea of youSophie, a 40-year old divorced mother, is the central focus. Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has canceled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. Sophie picks up the pieces while braving the heat and crowds. She meets Hayes Campbell (24 years old), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy group on the planet.
Showalter was Emmy-nominated in the Outstanding Directing category for a Limited or anthology Series or Movies. This is for his work with the Hulu limited series. Dropou,tAfter directing Jessica Chastain’s Oscar-winning performance as Tammy Faye Bakker, he also directed the upcoming film. He also directed the film “The Next Generation”. Spoiler Alert!
