Marlon Wayans to Develop Semi-Autobiographical Comedy Series at Starz

Marlon Wayans is moving his semi-autobiographical comedy series “Book of Marlon” to Starz.

After the show was originally set up at HBO Max in 2020, the premium cabler is now developing it. It was originally established at HBO Max in 2020 under an overall deal Wayans signed there.

Wayans will play a fictionalized version himself in the half-hour program. He explores his professional life as an actor and comedian, as well his personal life, trying to find a balance between being Marlon and being a loving father and a good person. Wayans will be the star of the series, as well as co-writing and producing. Rick Alvarez, just like the original HBO Max version, will co-write and executive produce. Diallo Riddle, Bashir Salahuddin, and Bashir Salahuddin are now onboard to write and serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Riddle previously worked with Wayans on the latter’s NBC series “Marlon,” while Wayans has appeared on Riddle and Salahuddin’s IFC series “Sherman’s Showcase.”

Warner Bros. Television is producing, with Riddle & Salahuddin currently in an overall deal at studio. Michael Rotenberg from 3 Arts Entertainment will be the executive producer. Starz’ director of original programming Alex Alberts, senior vice president of original programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair and senior vice president of unscripted programming Alice Dickens-Koblin will oversee the series on behalf of the network.

This is the latest semi-autobiographical comedy series in which Wayans will star. In the past, he starred in “Marlon”NBC for two seasons. The show was previously created by him and starred in it. “The Wayans Bros.”For five seasons, The WB. Wayans is also well known for his work in shows such as “In Living Color”In films such as “Scary Movie” franchise, “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” “White Chicks,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.”

WME, 3 Arts, Morris Yorn and Morris Yorn have repped him.
