Madonna Interview with Guy Oseary, Manager and Upcoming Biopic

Madonna was close to the man she calls him. “ride or die” in the same way that most people bond: through late nights out, long conversations — and no small amount of mischief.

Interview with VarietyThe pop icon opens up about the unconventional relationship she has with her husband Variety’Guy Oseary is the 2022 Music Mogul-of-the-YearThat includes not only being a partner in crime in the early days of their relationship in Miami but also as trusted business partners and sources of funding. “calm wisdom.”

“I was always the adventurous, crazy one,” Madonna says. “As soon as Guy would get a little look of fear in his eyes, I’d think it was a good idea. I would use him as a weathervane.”This dynamic however, only became more apparent over time. Oseary was only 18 when he first met Oseary. They were both unapologetic troublemakers. “As the years went by, he took on a more of a parental role,” Madonna reveals.

Oseary advised the well-known workaholic that he should spend less and get more rest. Madonna sometimes heeded Oseary’s warnings. More often than not, she remained unswayed — such as the time Oseary suggested the superstar tone down on the elaborate staging of her tours. “He would try to get me to do less production because then I would have less overhead and make more money,” Madonna says. “He was always the voice of reason.”

Oseary, however, is not yet “the old man in the house in Benedict Canyon” according to his most famous charge, Madonna’s fearlessness has rubbed off on him in perhaps unexpected ways. As evident in his explorations into cryptocurrency and NFTs. “He’s always been the man behind the artist taking the risk,”She said. “Now he’s taking risks. He reminds me on a regular basis that he’s essentially invested all this money in the crypto world.” (Amusingly, their close bond didn’t guarantee Madonna the NFT ape she wanted from the Oseary-repped Bored Ape Yacht Club. )

Madonna was able to learn from Oseary, who settled down, had a family and became a respected producer, manager and investor. “I’m not happy sharing him with apes. Cryptocurrency, Ethereum, U2, Anthony Kiedis, his four children and wife,”She jokes. “Why did all these people have to show up?”

How has Guy changed over the years?

He’s changed a lot since I met him. Guy was 18 when I met him. I was initially surprised by his many opinions. After getting to know him more, I realized he had a great taste in music and a recognized talent. We became close friends. I would seek his advice regarding people I was with, and he was always after supermodels that were breaking him heart.

Was he a good cop in business or a bad cop?

More or less. I was always the crazy, adventurous one. As soon as Guy would get a little look of fear in his eyes, I’d think it was a good idea. He would be a good weathervane. But that didn’t happen right away. He became more involved in the parenting role as the years passed. He was practical and always had the right ideas. He would encourage me to reduce production when I was on tour. This would allow me to have lower overhead and earn more. He was always the voice for reason, while I was the one who was a bit crazy and pushing the boundaries.

Guy claims that your willingness to take risks can rub off on you as a businessman.

He’s always been the man behind the artist taking the risk. Now he’s taking risks. He reminds me on a regular basis that he’s essentially invested all this money in the crypto world.

We are now at Bored Ape #356

I was so pissed off that I didn’t get the one I wanted. Once I get my mind around something then that’s what I’m going to have. However, I quickly learned that 32 musicians in small theaters is not the same thing as wanting an ape wearing a leather motorcycle helmet and multicolored teeth.

That’s the one you wanted?

Yeah and I didn’t get it. I was told it was inspired and modelled after me. It was purchased by a friend of mine. I was like “She should just sell it to me!”It was going to be sold to me by her, but it was far too expensive. I can’t afford my own ape.

Do you have a secret relationship with Guy?

To a point. He created his own universe after he married. I had him all to me, and now I have him sharing his home with his wife. I’m kidding! Before that a lot of pretty girls came and went — he’s gonna kill me for saying all of this — but then he settled down with a really nice girl. I was like “God dammit. Now I have competition!”Then he began managing other artists. This really helped me.

You are in an unconventional relationship.

As I mentioned, it used to be just Guy and me. Everything was done together. I still remember the place he took me. “I can’t do this anymore.”MDNA. I have never settled down in a traditional way. I am a member of a very unusual family. I consider myself to be a citizen of the globe and my family moves along with me.

He couldn’t be on the road all the time?

This was probably due to his desire to have a family and grow his business. Now he’s the old man in the house in Benedict Canyon. Is this where he lives now? One of these canyons. I’ve only been to his house 3,000 times. He has a lot practical, calm wisdom, which I don’t have. We have a good dynamic. It’s just shifted.

What are your future plans for music?

I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to rerelease my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation. I’m focused on that and I’ve been writing a screenplay for my film for the last couple of years. This is the whole thing. “Frozen”Was so much fun, I woke up one morning and went. “I’m sick of living in the past!” I want to go on tour again, I’m a creature of the stage. It’s my happy place.

Guy is on tour.

I’m always happy to see him. In my opinion, he doesn’t come around enough. I wish he was more generous. I’m not happy sharing him with apes. cryptocurrency, Ethereum, U2, Anthony Kiedis and his four children, as well as his wife. Why did all this happen?

Guy claims you rejected the idea of selling your song collection. Why?

Because they’re my songs. Ownership is everything isn’t it? I mean, that’s why he’s buying apes.

You are where you want to be with the biopic.

It is very difficult for me to reduce a long script. I’ve been whittling away at it, but it’s like hacking off my limbs.

What made you decide to make this film?

I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film. It was also a preemptive strike, as many people tried to make movies about my life. They were mostly misogynistic men. So I stepped in and said, “No one’s going to tell my story, but me.”
