Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams in new Netflix show’s first look has fans raving

The upcoming Wednesday series is all about the teenage Addams and her family, but the exclusive first look has fans more excited about Luis Guzman’s Gomez role.

Everyone has been eager to see who the Addams family would cast since Netflix first announced that they were making the Wednesday series.

Until now, we’d been teased glimpses of Jenny Ortega as the titular character, but now Vanity FairWe have the family portrait.

Who is the Addams Family’s cast?

It’s the classic Addams family look, but with an updated cast to die for. Tim Burton is making his first TV appearance as the executive producer and chief director. It seems like a match made in heaven, in fact, its a little surprising that Burton hasn’t done the Addams family before!

The black-and-white picture shows that Catherine Zeta Jones will play Morticia, the gothic family matriarch.

Jenny Ortega, as Wednesday, and Isaac Ordonez (as Pugsley), are the Addams Kids. Given their characters’ signature looks, it’s hard to imagine that anyone else had played them before.

They definitely all look the part, but it’s none of these three that are really getting fans raving…

Fans react to Luis Guzman’s portrayal of Gomez Addams

Yes, it is in fact the romantic father, played by Luis Guzman, that has caught everyone’s attention.

Fans took to Twitter quickly and voiced their disapproval at the casting. Many commented on the similarities to the 1960s cartoon.

Though there has been *some* criticism (when isn’t there) about the casting, fans have quickly come to Guzman’s defence as Gomez and took to Twitter to share their love.

The Addams family has been a cultural hit for decades, so it’s not surprising that some have their reservations.

Netflix has reiterated their belief that the Wednesday series will not be a reboot and will draw on the 60s and 1990s Addams Family.

Chiefs spoke Vanity Fair: “It’s not trying to be the movies or the ’60s TV show. That was very important to us and very important to Tim.”

When will Wednesday be published?

Netflix stated that the series would be in this year’s edition, but has not yet confirmed a Wednesday date.

But, promotion has increased for the highly anticipated series. Its unmistakable gothic themes make it a must-see for Halloween. We sure hope so.
