Lou, does Jax the dog starve?

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Lou*

We all love a gripping, action-packed thriller and Netflix’s Lou offers up plenty to get viewers onto the edge of their seats.

The movie follows the mysterious Lou, a woman with a shady past who lives with her canine companion Jax, who is forced into action when her neighbour’s daughter, Vee, is kidnapped.

While the fate of Vee is the film’s top priority, a number of viewers have been left wondering what happens to Jax and whether Lou’s dog dies or is harmed during the course of the film.

Lou: Release date and plot overview

Lou made it onto Netflix Friday, September 23rd 2022.

The film stars Allison Janney (Oscar-winner) and JurneeSmollett (Junee Smollett). It is about Lou Adell who’s life is disrupted by Hannah, her neighbor. Hannah begs Lou for help in saving her daughter.

They embark on an adventurous journey into the wilderness, as a storm rages all around them. It’s a mission that will test both of them to their limits and expose some shocking secrets from their pasts along the way.

Jax is not dead and continues to be unharmed after Lou’s death.

When Lou and Hannah set off into the woods in pursuit of Vee’s kidnapper, Jax accompanies them and provides some welcome canine companionship throughout the film.

Jax is crucial in Vee’s rescue, as his senses of smell help him to find her.

Thankfully, Jax remains out of harm’s way throughout Lou and he is still alive by the end of the film.

However, before the final confrontation with Vee’s kidnapper, Philip, Lou tells Hannah to take care of Jax, should she not make it and it appears to be a good call as she and Philip are seemingly both shot by an approaching CIA helicopter.

The final scene in the film shows Hannah, Vee, Jax and their ferry ride to start a new beginning. But Jax’s attention is caught when he spots a familiar-looking woman – almost certainly Lou – who is watching them through a pair of binoculars.

Jax can actually be played by two dogs

Lou may have only one dog, but Jax is actually played two adorable dogs throughout the film.

These dogs are known as Ozzie and Jersey, according to IMDbLou makes their debut on-screen appearance.

Lou’s credits also list Dar Therrien as the movie’s animal trainer, a role he has filled on numerous films and TV shows over the years including Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Sonic the Hedgehog, See and Yellowjackets.

Lou is available for streaming now Netflix After releasing Friday, September 23, 2022.
