For the first time since 2003, Kevin Costner is returning to directing and will both star in and direct a Western — the upcoming film “Horizon.”
“Horizon”Costner has made this a passion project that has been in development for many years. It spans 15 year before and after the Civil War expansion.
Costner has worked hard over the years to bring the hit show to life. “Yellowstone,” but he’s also set a start date for “Horizon”This year, August 29, in Utah
Costner will finance and produce the film through Territory Pictures, his production company. The film’s casting will start in February.
“America’s expansion into the west was one that was fraught with peril and intrigue from the natural elements, to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it,”Costner stated this in a statement. “‘Horizon’ tells the story of that journey in an honest and forthcoming way, highlighting the points of view and consequences of the characters’ life and death decisions.”
Costner last directed “Open Range,”2003 film starring Robert Duvall, Annette Bening and Annette Bening. He’s also the director of “The Postman”The Best Picture Winner “Dances With Wolves”From 1990, which Costner produced, directed, and starred in, he was nominated 12 times for Oscars. He won seven of them, including two for Costner’s role as producer and director.
