Kenan Thompson did a fantastic job hosting the Emmys 2022. He brought all of his charm and wit to the hosting gig, and we couldn’t have been happier to see him in action. A recent interview with the KenanStar shared his top moments and his most memorable afterparty moments. It involves Maya Rudolph, the legendary Maya Rudolph!
Talk to The Hollywood ReporterThompson spoke about his friendship and influence with Maya Rudolph as a performer before hosting the event. He revealed that the best afterparty was:
It’s probably the most recent season finale, when Maya Rudolph performed with her Prince cover band. I love her so deeply and owe her damn near my entire life. I’ve performed with her a million times but never seen her in full rock-star mode. It was unbelievable, amazing, and just plain incredible. You can do it three more times.
It was an amazing show, and Kenan Thompson clearly enjoyed it. Also, now knowing Maya Rudolph performs in a Prince cover band makes her infinitely more cool, which I didn’t think was physically possible. Thompson and Rudolph are long-time friends. They appeared together as cast members. SNLThey were together from 2003 to 2007, until Rudolph’s departure. They are still close friends and their love is still strong. Rudolph has been back to the network many times to host gigs or comeos, including to play Vice President Kamala Hariri.

His short-lived sitcom, titled “NBC”, was his last. KenanThompson continues his historic run in the role of a SNLCast member for season 48. Season 48 will premiere on October 1, with many new cast members making their debut. I’m sure Kenan will do a great job showing the new cast the ropes.
