It was not an issue before this year, but it now sounds ridiculous and people assume I am joking

After the biggest summer blockbusters took over internet, a grandmother’s surname has become surprising relevant.

Barbara Oppenheimer is 68 years old and loves the looks of surprise people give her when they first meet her.

The Barbenheimer craze is adding some fun to her already wonderful life, she said. The New York Post.

“It’s always important to embrace the serendipity in life, isn’t it?”

Greta Gerwig’s socially-conscious comedy Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s historical drama Oppenheimer were inescapable when they debuted in theaters on July 21.

Some cinemagoers watch both films on the same trip.

“Most people don’t believe me when I say my name,” said Oppenheimer, who lives in Newton, Massachusetts – a suburb immediately east of Boston.

“They think I’m joking.”

Oppenheimer was not her name until after she married her husband. He is a distant relation of the famous theoretical scientist who created the atomic Bomb during World War II.

This connection led the couple to watch Nolan’s movie first.

I thought that they did an excellent job. The grandmother of five said that the book really delved into Oppenheimer’s moral dilemmas.

She added, “He was not only a hero for many people but also the target of much anger.”

“I’ve always heard in my husband’s family, whether you claimed him as a relative or didn’t really depended on how you felt about thing.”

Two weeks after that, they saw Gerwig’s movie.

Oppenheimer – who considers herself a feminist – appreciated the message that empowered women in this movie.

“I wasn’t sure my husband would like ‘Barbie,’ but he laughed out loud through the whole thing,” she said.

She couldn’t choose which film she preferred.

“They’re so different,” she said.

“I can’t choose. I’m glad I saw both.”
