Is it a Casket on a California Freeway Side? “Yep, it’s a coffin,” Police say

Recent 911 calls received by authorities in central California from concerned drivers resulted in many 911 calls. On the side of Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo was a very strange sight.

These calls led to police and the California Highway Patrol taking to social media.

“Yep, it’s a coffin. Yep, it was on Santa Rosa near Walnut yesterday and yep, it’s never been occupied,”On its Facebook page, the San Luis Obispo Police Department published a message.

“Never a dull day. Especially when you receive multiple 911 calls of a casket on the shoulder of the freeway,”The state Highway Patrol is posted. “Yes, that’s a casket!! Never know what the day has in store. We have to admit our Officer was a little nervous to make sure it was empty. And YES it was empty.”

Hence, why was there an empty casket at the busy freeway?

Apparently, the coffin was found abandoned outside a building and a member of the area’s transient population decided to push it to a swap meet to sell it, authorities said.

According to police, she was just taking a break when officers discovered the coffin by the side road.

The casket was ultimately pushed through town to reach its destination. The casket was not officially confirmed as being purchased by anyone.
