IFC Announces First Round Of Casting Calls For The Upcoming 53rd Season Of Comedy Series ‘Documentary Now!’

Casting for the next season has begun Documentary NowThis is it.

Cate Blanchett, Jamie Demetriou and Trystan Gravelle (with Jonathan Pryce).The Crown, The Two PopesHarriet Walter joins the comedy series with John Rhys-Davies, Harriet Walter, and Tom Jones.

Six brand-new episodes were created by Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, Seth Meyers, and Rhys Thomas. Hosted by Helen Mirren, Helen Mirren is well-known for lovingly paying homage to the world documentaries. Documentary NowSeason 53 will air on AMC+ and IFC in the Fall 2022. Produced by Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video.

Here’s the summary of three episodes.

  • Two hairdressers in Bagglyport Harriet Walter will star alongside Cate Blanchett Pay tribute to fashion documentaries 3 Salons at SeasideAnd The September IssueThe episode shows a candid portrait of Walter, a hair salon owner, and her staff (Blanchett), as they create their annual stylebook in Bagglyport. Documentary Now Fred Armisen, the co-creator, will also appear as George The Postman.
  • How they threw rocksTrystan Gravelle, a Welsh actor, will appear. Jonathan Pryce, John Rhys-Davies and the legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones. In the spirit of When We Were KingsAs well as other fascinating explorations into sport, the episode focuses on Craig Maes’ Welsh sport. “Field Rock,”And the legendary 1974 bout, dubbed “The Melon vs. The Felon (Gravelle).”Sam C. Wilson is a fellow actor from Wales (Dodger() is the infamous Craig Maes competitor Sior Stroboss “The Melon.”
  • My Monkey Grifter Jamie Demetriou (actor) will direct the program.The Afterparty. Get inspiration from My Octopus TeacherEpisode 2 follows Benjamin Clay (Demetriou), an actor who develops a deep, emotional and financially challenging relationship with a monkey, possibly with ulterior motives. Fred Armisen joins the team as Detective Blakely.

Documentary Now is executive produced by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Rhys Thomas, Lorne Michaels, Alex Buono, John Mulaney and Broadway Video’s Andrew Singer. Once again, Thomas and Buono are the show’s directors with Erik Kenward serving as consulting producer.

Alice Mathias, David Cress, and Tamsin Rawady were the producers. EMU Films was produced in Britain, with Lee Groombridge as producer, Wali Ulah as executive, and Michael Elliott, Jim Mooney and Michael Elliott as producers.
