Tom Davidson may have been Abby’s murderous bastard, but he showed in the latest episode that he is also quite clever. Tom managed to intercept Hoyt“Send a message to the deputy GusTom was able to locate the body of Liam and exhume it. He also announced to the community his plans to hunt down the killer. He found a scapegoat among a group of cattle rustlers, and he declared the only survivor as the prime suspect in Liam’s murder.
Abby, Hoyt and CalianThe gang devised a plan to release the accused murderer in order to prove his innocence. Gus then shot him down while he was escaping. The gang lost their strongest ally, Tom, in building a case against Tom. His death helped cement the narrative that Liam was the murderer and is now being brought to justice in the eyes the town. The scene in Walker: IndependenceIt may seem bright, but many of its inhabitants are dim.
Abby does not have any leads to prove Tom’s murder of her husband. It’s therefore understandable that she will accept the offer from the sheriff. This will not only add to the drama, but it will also be more interesting. Walker: IndependenceThere are many fans who could follow Tom’s lead, and they may also be able to find some evidence to make him pay for his crimes. Although I understand her motives, Abby’s risk is a major concern. This is not an Arrowverse show.
I believe Tom Davidson is suspicious that someone is looking into Liam’s death after seeing what he did in this episode. It doesn’t take a genius for to realize that this random woman just recently arrived could be one of those people. So it’s prudent to keep an ear on her and see what she knows. It’s a great way to help her find work, and to keep an eye on her for any future problems.
As I said, Sheriff Tom is a smart guy. It would be surprising if he doesn’t have suspicions about Abby’s involvement in Liam’s death. Even if he doesn’t know that Liam is her husband, I would guess he will eventually realize that, given how involved she was in the murder and their dinner. Maybe I’m giving him too much credit, but Abby seems to be asking for trouble accepting Tom’s offer.
