How to see Prey Comanche’s cut on Hulu & Disney Plus

When we look back on the great alien movies, John McTiernan’s 1987 classic Predator stands out. The fearsome alien foe wielded gadgets and advanced technology, but he didn’t bank on one thing… earth having Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It’s often praised for its simple approach of man vs alien in an isolated location. However, the movie spawned a franchise and as the efforts have become increasingly ambitious they’ve arguably become more divisive. Yet, director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield LaneThe series has been reintroduced to its roots by )

Not only that but he’s taken it back in time.

Prey is set in 1719 and focuses on Naru (played here by Amber Midthunder), who is a young Comanche woman given the chance to be a hunter after a mysterious alien starts killing her tribe members.

It’s been praised by critics and general audiences alike. However, many feel that there’s a better way to watch the movie than in its default version. So, here’s how to watch the Prey Comanche Cut.

How to see the Prey Comanche cut

Hulu and Disney+ Prey play in the original English language by default. However, to change the audio on Hulu simply go to the settings icon once the film’s begun playing and change the language from English to Comanche under the audio tab. Then all you need is English subtitles and you’re good to go.

Disney+ users can also click the language icon (towards top of screen) to select Comanche over English under the audio tab.

Now, it’s worth addressing the fact that Prey was in fact filmed in English, so the Comanche audio version is the dub and not the other way around. The Comanche version is more authentic and immersive because it depicts the culture.

The Comanche, a Native American tribe of the Southern Plains that speaks the Numic language belonging to the Uto-Aztecan clan, are an example of a Native American tribe.

‘This movie resets a whole lot of paradigms’

Prey’s producer – Jhane Myers – recently sat down with ComicBookhe also spoke out about the possibility of watching the film in Comanche.

“We do have like Comanche throughout the film, but when you first choose to watch the film, this will be the first time that the Comanche language and I’m Comanche, by the way, this will be the first time that our language is in a full dub and also subtitled for the whole film.”

She also added: “So that’s really important to me and the language component’s very important because this will also be the first time that a film has been completely [dubbed]. You get the option of watching it in Comanche on a brand new film… this movie resets a whole lot of paradigms, and one of them is the language component.”
